Welcome to Mentoring for Everyone

Congratulations on your interest in the Mentoring for Everyone Program! Mentoring for Everyone (ME) is designed so you, as a scholar, can build your own individualized mentoring program. Taking this personal investment in your mentoring program is crucial to your success! The plan allows you to select who you want to work with and how you want to work with them. We provide a list of Interpreting Mentors and Sign Masters, offer mentoring trainings for both mentors and scholars (currently under development), lend equipment for distance mentoring, and offer scholarship funds to aid in financing mentorship. Again, thank you for your interest in the ME Program. Look around at the information presented on this website and contact Jenny Ballew with any questions at jennyballew@gmail.com .

Who Are Our Interpreter Mentors?

Interpreter mentors are trained and skilled teachers who are interested in encouraging the skill development in other interpreters. Interpreter mentors typically possess one or more of the following: EIPA 3.5 or above, RID, NIC, CSC, CI and/or CT, NAD Level IV or above. Ideally he or she has also taken the CRID offerings of Mentoring 101, 102, 103, and 104, or the Master Mentor Program, EIPA Feedback Analysis, and the Demand Control Schema workshop.

Mentors set their own rates, each according to his or her qualifications and experience. CRID Mentoring for Everyone offers scholarships so that cost will not be a hardship for scholars seeking to improve their skills.

Who Are Our Sign Masters?

Sign masters are skilled users of American Sign Language, preferably Deaf people who have knowledge of ASL linguistics, experience in teaching ASL or in mentoring, as well as the language ability to work with SEE, PSE, CASE, and ASL users. They typically possess the following: ASLTA Qualified or Professional Certification or RID Certified Deaf Interpreter, 3 years or more teaching ASL at the post-secondary level or mentoring in an educational setting, native ASL user, preferably Deaf. Sign Masters also set their own rates.

Who Are Our Scholars?

Our scholars can be any ASL Interpreter! It doesn't matter if you are new to the profession and trying to reach a certification goal, or an experienced interpreter who is looking to take your work to the next level. You may be an interpreter in any setting, including educational, community, legal, or VRS. All you need is a goal in mind and the willingness to participate with an open mind.
